GOVERNANCE STATEMENT
Christ the Priest is a school which operates with the consent of the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne and is operated and governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS). MACS governs and operates 292 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to continue the mission of Catholic education to proclaim the Good News and equip our young people with the knowledge, skills and hope to live meaningful lives and enrich the world around them. Because the good work of educating the young is a co-responsible task led by every member of the Catholic school community, School Advisory Councils have been established to provide a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders. This governance model was designed to ease the administrative burden on our schools and parishes, allow parish priests to focus on the mission of education in the parish, enable greater collaboration between schools and ensure greater consistency in school policies and procedures.

Welcome to Christ the Priest Catholic Primary School.

Welcome to the Christ the Priest Primary School website. We are confident that you will find the information on this site useful and that you will learn more about what makes Christ the Priest Primary School a special place.

The school values are: Service, Mercy & Thanksgiving which were launched with the new school vision and mission developed in 2019. These values are at the centre of all our faith and our expectations. We work towards these values being evident in all areas of the school. We utilise a Positive Behaviour Learning approach to behaviour management, which are supported by our STAR (Safe, Team Work, Achiever and Respect) expectations through specialised lesson plans to make explicit behavioural expectations. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and welcoming faith community. CtP is part of the St Catherine of Siena Parish and enjoys a strong relationship with our wider Catholic community.

Christ the Priest opened in January 2000. It is home to approximately 480 students from Prep to Grade 6. Christ the Priest has a number of well established outdoor play spaces, 20 classes and a multi-purpose hall with kitchen facilities. Christ the Priest also has a brightly appointed discovery centre and Visual Arts studio.

Two portable classroom have been custom renovated to accommodate our before and after school care service. The provider of this service is OSH Club, operating from 7am in the morning, until 6.30pm in the evening.

We have a wide-ranging cultural mix of national cultures represented and celebrated. Community is important at CtP and relationships are promoted and celebrated through positive interaction with students, teachers, parents and the parish.

At CtP we have a love of learning, across curriculum areas including English, Maths, Religious Education, Discovery/Investigations, Physical Education, Music, Drama, LOTE, Digital Technologies and Visual Arts. It is our hope that everyone can find their niche at CtP. Children are actively encouraged to develop to their fullest potential. I firmly believe each and every one of our students has a variety of rich talents, gifts and interests. By nurturing these in a stimulating, supportive environment, we hope all of our students finish their journey at CtP equipped with the skills to continue as lifelong learners who actively contribute and flourish in society.

If you wish to talk to me further about any areas related to our school, please contact me via the school contacts page. I look forward to this opportunity.
